The
island of Corfu is ideal for taking excursions by car, bus or motorbike.
Beaches are plentiful and the sea is clean. An excellent 18-hole golf
course is a 20 minute drive from the Cavalieri in the Ropa Valley.
Apart from the town itself, with its famous church of St. Spiridon,
Patron Saint of the island, the Royal Palace on the Esplanade built
by the British in the early 19th century, there are also several other
famous landmarks and some interesting museums well worth a visit.
For the keen gambler there is also a Casino on the island.
Places of interest to be visited out of town include Canoni - if only
to enjoy the view of 'Mouse Island' - Paleokastritsa, noted for its
cool turqoise waters and 'the Achillion', fairy palace built at Gastouri
for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria.
Of course, upon your return, the friendly staff of the Cavalieri Hotel
will be waiting to greet you.
